DNC 2016 – Alleged Rapist Bill Clinton: Hillary Works to Empower Women

The significant time devoted to the testimonials underscored the campaign’s concerns about how voters view Ms. Clinton.

Especially at the national convention of the Democratic Party, which so often and so adamantly asserts that it is a true friend of the Jewish state. The voice vote passed, but not without some “nays” from delegates. Bernie Sanders, in a bid to bridge the Democratic Party’s divide between his backers and supporters of Hillary Clinton, moved Tuesday to give Clinton the party’s presidential nomination by acclamation.

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe suggested Hillary could flip back to her prior support for the Trans-Pacific Partnership – in news that broke as Bernie backers were protesting in part over that very issue – but campaign chairman John Podesta shot the idea down. “That, by the way is not just the opinion of Bernie Sanders”.

“What does it take to the be first female anything?” Eventually, the narrative of Hillary’s commitment to bringing about positive change came to dominate Clinton’s remarks (and he spawned a hashtag, #TheRealOne). No, not Bill Clinton, but Jimmy Carter.

Instead, he talked about the Hillary Clinton only he knows. “It’s great”, Bill Clinton said. “So your only option is to create a cartoon, a cartoon alternative, then run against the cartoon”.

“They did not have easy lives and they died young”.

“If you don’t believe this election is important, if you think you can sit it out, take a moment to think about the Supreme Court justices that Donald Trump would nominate and what that would mean to civil liberties, equal rights and the future of our country”, he said. Instead, he portrayed her as human – warm and authentic.

The night ended with a dramatic nod to history being made at the Democratic convention.

The personal sections of the speech played poorly on political Twitter, but might land better with viewers at home who haven’t heard the well-worn anecdotes he told.

She’s tireless and hard-working, gets knocked down but “has never quit on anything in her life”, said First Lady Michelle Obama.

Maryland Sen. Barbara Mikulski nominated Clinton, saying she was acting on behalf of “all women who have broken down barriers for others”. “We have the power”, the singer said.

The video featured a succession of faces of male presidents, one after another.

Appearing on video from NY later Tuesday night, after a montage of the 43 men who have presided over the Oval Office filled the large screen overhead, Clinton thanked her party and the delegates for their role in helping her make “the biggest crack in that glass ceiling yet”. His convention address was his highest profile appearance of the campaign.

Sybrina Fulton, the mother of Trayvon Martin, a Florida teen killed in 2012, said that no mother “would have signed up” for the assignment. The night wasn’t without conflict, but the event set a few historic firsts. Amy Klobuchar were happy to put the matter in starkly political terms. “She’s a multi-dimensional woman – like all women are”. Senator Mikulski herself was the the first Democratic woman to be elected to the Senate in 1987. “And in the United States of America, it’s called the voting card”.
