DNC Pens Official Apology To Bernie Sanders After Email Leak

Some Democratic leaders called for the resignations of party officials – including Democratic chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz – who made objectionable comments about Sanders in what they thought were private emails.

The DNC email leak revealed that the current chair, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, had unfairly criticized and spoke out against the Bernie Sanders campaign.

“Going forward, the best way for me to accomplish those goals is to step down as Party Chair at the end of this convention”, Schultz, 49, said in a statement on Sunday, on the eve of the Republican National Convention here. Initially, she was going to proceed with the traditional role of gaveling the opening and closing of the event, a stance that prompted complaints from many of Mr. Sanders’s supporters.

Fellow Democrats criticized Wasserman Schultz – former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, himself a former DNC chairman, has said he wouldn’t have let her speak at the convention.

For all the unexpected drama in the 48 hours leading up to the DNC, Whiteside said she still predicts a relatively uneventful convention, marked by Sanders delegates coalescing around Clinton. She will gavel each session to order and will gavel each session closed. (Breaking into tears during a TV interview, she backed the plan.) In past years, Wasserman Schultz has proved an effective surrogate for presidential candidates both to the Jewish community and on women’s issues.

DNC Vice Chair Donna Brazile, a veteran Democratic strategist who will lead the party on an interim basis after the convention, warned more leaked emails, and more apologies, could be coming. At a rally Sunday for an assortment of environmental causes like opposition to oil pipelines, fracking, and other issues like genetically modified food and the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal, she said she’s done.

Last week marked the end of Republican Party’s national convention, which saw tumultuous protests on the first day, Melania Trump’s speech controversy on the second, and Ted Cruz’s non-endorsement of Donald Trump speech on the third.

It comes as many of his supporters contend the Democratic National Committee failed to be neutral during the primaries.

I think it’s a disgrace. Sen.

“I am exhausted of choosing the lesser of two evils”, she said.

Other actors who have voiced their passionate support for Sanders’ (and their frustration with the DNC) include Mark Ruffalo, Seth MacFarlane, and Danny DeVito, to name just a few.

“We are the state that will deliver the White House”, Wasserman Schultz said, shouting above the boos. The thing is, we have a gentleman here who’s a con, who’s a sexist, who’s a bigot.

Numerous die-hard Sanders supporters who descended on Philadelphia loathe the party flag bearer Clinton so much they are unwilling to back her – even if the cost is a Trump presidency.

Emails can be considered hard evidence of what was said and done, and cannot be denied – hence the stimulus to delete them.

Rawlings-Blake is a last-minute fill-in Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the ousted Democratic National Committee leader. “The party leadership must also always remain impartial in the presidential nominating process, something which did not occur in the 2016 race”, Sanders continued. Meanwhile, first lady Michelle Obama arguably stole the show on Monday night with an impassioned and moving speech centered on how far the country has progressed in recent decades.

Clinton campaign officials pointed the finger for the hack at Russian military intelligence agencies.

Wasserman Schultz, in a statement, said she wanted to focus on her congressional seat in South Florida, where she is facing a robust primary challenge by a Sanders backer, law professor Tim Canova.
