Do you want Google to make its own phones?
Google is planning to develop and build its very own smartphone before the end of the year, according to sources speaking to the Telegraph, in a move which is created to help take back control of its mobile operating system Android from manufacturers like Samsung and Huawei. Reportedly, the company is in talks with mobile operators about releasing a Google-branded smartphone that will extend the company’s move into hardware respectively.

Making its own phone allows Google to be in control of software securing its future services like Google search and Google Play app store will run within the device.
Additionally, it’s reported that Google would continue to work with other companies for smartphones under its Nexus brand. Between them, the two companies dominate the smartphone world with Android and iOS software featuring on the majority of mobile devices sold worldwide.
It’ll be interesting to see if Google really are diving into the manufacturing market, and whether their device differs that much from what we’d usually expect to see from a third-party-made device, though I’m not expecting too much. Google declined to comment. Apple has been successful with its iPhone line, partly because it manufactures most of the hardware and software for its product, without having to contract and discuss with other companies.
Even if Google starts selling its own device, this probably doesn’t mean the end of the line for Nexus. It’s said Google is in negotiations with carrier networks regarding a launch, suggesting that it may have plans to make it available on network tariffs either as well as, or rather than, directly via Google’s webstore, as with the Nexus series.

At present, the Google-developed smartphone is not yet confirmed, but the September event in 2016 will probably make the highlight. That device, which would let users customize a phone “skeleton” with add-on cameras, speakers, sensors and other modules, is expected to be released next year. Don’t get us wrong, this year’s Nexus 6P is definitely the most monumental device that we have used so far, still, it is not the epitome of the true Android experience.
