The trial will occur in the Mottham branch of the chain in Manchester, before then increasing the trial by adding another 10 restaurants to the test by the end of the month.
“I really enjoyed the experience”, says Steve Mitchell, 57, an account manager from Shrewsbury who ordered his lunch through the new system.
Instead of the usual till situation, customers will order from kiosks or from staff with tablet computers (ooh, fancy!), and a waiter will then deliver it to your table. No waiting in a queue of people, it was great.
Table service has already been successfully rolled out in parts of France, Germany and Australia.
Lee Cunningham, 20, a barman, is also an early convert.
It seems McDonald’s is doing everything it can to get out of the slump.
McDonald’s is trialling table service at one of its restaurants after a drop in sales – but would customers be lovin’ the idea of it coming to Oxfordshire?

So far the company has revamped its Hamburglar mascot and is reportedly set to begin offering all-day breakfasts in the U.S. this autumn. The world’s largest fast-food chain is battling to retain customers in the face of the “fast-casual” trend in which newcomers such as Mexican eatery Chipotle and rival burger outlet Five Guys eat into its sales.
