Doctor: Clinton had ‘mild’ case of pneumonia, fit to lead as president

Clinton was diagnosed with pneumonia two days before she fainted on Sunday but her campaign team had kept it quiet until the video was put online. So far, the businessman has only released a widely mocked letter from his longtime physician declaring he would be the healthiest president in history. Clinton is scheduled to address the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute dinner in Washington on Thursday evening and appear on “The Tonight Show” Friday. Mr Trump leads her by 5 percentage points in a Bloomberg Politics poll of OH, a gap that underscores the Democrat’s challenges in critical Rust Belt states after one of the roughest stretches of her campaign.

She will return to the campaign trail Thursday, her campaign added.

The disclosure of the medical information comes after Clinton became “overheated” and struggled to stand Sunday after a 9/11 commemoration.

Obama insisted that Clinton had “been subjected to more scrutiny and … more unfair criticism than anybody out here”, while accusing the media of giving her Republican opponent a pass.

Her campaign said Clinton has “mild, non-contagious bacterial pneumonia”, and is being treated with an antibiotic called Levaquin, prescribed for 10 days.

Dr Bardack said Ms Clinton was up to date on all vaccines, including two given to help prevent pneumonia – Prevnar and Pneumovax.

Clinton had received backlash for not being more transparent on her health.

US President Barack Obama has fully endorsed Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s fitness to serve as president, despite concerns over her being diagnosed with pneumonia.

He Tweeted: “I must advice the Clinton campaign to perform toxicologic analysis of Ms.’ Clinton’s blood”. Lab testing (vitamin D, CBC, fasting blood glucose, comprehensive metabolic panel, hemoglobin A1-C, vitamin B-12) is “normal”, including cholesterol of 189, LDL of 103, HDL of 56 and triglycerides of 159. Also expected in Wednesday’s release are the results of additional lab tests as well as a normal annual mammogram.

For Mrs Clinton, questions persist about her health and how her campaign team handled information about her illness. The letter says Kaine is in “overall excellent health”, has never smoked and has “modest” alcohol use.
