“Review of your family history is remarkable only for your father passing away from a myocardial infarction; however, he did smoke cigarettes”, writes Michael F. Busk, of the St. Vincent Health, Wellness and Preventative Care Institute in Indianapolis.

Trump, the Republican nominee for president, has released a note from his doctor saying that he, too, was in “excellent” health.

Trump, 70, takes a statin, a drug for lowering cholesterol, along with a low dose of aspirin. The Indiana governor’s running mate, presidential nominee Donald Trump, discussed his health on television earlier this week, with controversial celebrity TV host Dr. Mehmet Oz.

According to the two-page letter, the 57-year-old IN governor is IN “excellent general and cardiovascular health” and “medically able to maintain [his] high level of professional work”. The vice presidential nominee also underwent surgery for a hernia fix last August and had basal cell carcinomas removed from his face in 2002 and 2010.

It also noted that Pence has a “very good and strong heart”, and that he regularly exercises by cycling, walking and climbing stairs. Busk wrote that Pence, 5ft 10in and 208lbs, tested well in stress and heart examinations and tested within the normal limit for a wide range of blood tests.

The indisposition suffered last week by Clinton as a result of pneumonia has forced both Democrats and Republicans to be more transparent about the health of their candidates.

This week, Clinton’s doctor, Lisa Bardack, who also released an initial note last year, released more detailed health records for the 68-year-old, who had a concussion in 2012 and has periodic allergies.

After a few days of rest, Clinton returned to the campaign trail Thursday.

The letter about Pence, the 57-year-old governor of IN, was dated Thursday and came after Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton and her running mate, Tim Kaine, also provided some details of their medical history. Kaine drinks a “moderate” amount of alcohol and takes a vitamin D supplement, the doctor said.
