Doctor Who new season bombs in the ratings, says BBC

While it took fans a while to warm to her after the departure of the beloved Ponds, she proved herself to be a wonderful addition to the show, sparring admirably with both the eleventh and twelfth Doctor.

Coleman has played the role of Clara, companion to the kooky time traveller the Doctor (Peter Capaldi) since 2012, and although the 29-year-old said that she had a rather “emotional” farewell, details of Clara’s actually send off are being kept secret. The actress will star as Queen Victoria in an eight-part drama series about the monarch and her relationship with eventual long-time husband Prince Albert. Here’s what Jenna Coleman had to say about her new role in a statement. “She’s not someone from the Doctor’s past… unless I’m lying”.

Who should be the new Doctor Who companion? She added, “Steven (show runner Stephen Moffat) and I sat down a year and a half ago and tried to work out the best place to do it, and the best place to tell a really good story”.

Whovians have an almost impossible-to-satisfy appetite for anything “Doctor Who” and for those who can no longer wait until the season nine premiere, BBC just released a prologue video for the upcoming “Doctor Who” season.

“I think it’s really cool”, Jenna said while she was on-air.

The kicker here is, we’re not sure when and why Clara leaves and we’re left wondering how the longest running companion – at least in the modern revival – will exit the show for good. The actress revealed in a radio interview with BBC One that she has already filmed her final scenes for Doctor Who.

Of course, it’s one comment in particular that’s really thrown us – “Since he was a little girl”.

Doctor Who returns with a two-parter, “The Magician’s Apprentice” and “The Witch’s Familiar”, September 19th, 2015 at 9/8c on BBC America.

Oh yes, that’s right – 2013’s Time of the Doctor, when the Time Lords gave the Doctor a new cycle of regenerations to save his life and change him into Peter Capaldi’s version of the character.
