Doctor Who Returning To Movie Theaters With Season 9 Prequel
In “Dark Water/Death in Heaven“, theatergoers can relive when the Doctor (Peter Capaldi) comes face-to-face with the mysterious Missy (short for the Mistress) as the villainous Cybermen take over the streets of London.

BBC Worldwide North America and Fathom Events have announced a special screening of the Doctor Who Season 8 two-part finale Dark Water and Death in Heaven on September 15 and 16 at 7:30 p.m (local time).
The season finale was a game-changer this year, revealing the identity of the Master and featuring the death of a major character. Accompanying these episodes is a prequel scene for the Season 9 premiere titled The Doctors Meditation, as well as an interview with Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman hosted by Star Trek: The Next Generation star Will Wheaton. And, of course, the biggest Doctor Who theatrical event came in 2013, when the 50th anniversary special with Matt Smith, David Tennant, and John Hurt, ‘The Day of the Doctor, ‘ was shown in 3D at theaters around the globe. Tickets will be available for purchase starting July 31, and you can visit FathomEvents.com to buy tickets there or look for participating theaters. Fathom have presented a number of genre-friendly events, including an ongoing series of science fiction films “commented on” by MST3K alumni at RiffTrax, and an upcoming return to theaters of the animated classic The Iron Giant.
Doctor Who kept his eyes on the future with Comic Con 2015’s Season 9 trailer and premiere date, but the Time Lord isn’t above looking to the past, and occasionally through 3D glasses.
Doctor Who: Dark Water/Death in Heaven will be a limited engagement 3D event with a never-before-seen Series 9 prequel!
