Peter Capaldi is preparing to make his San Diego Comic-Con debut as the star of “Doctor Who“, but before that he’s dropping some small hints about what to expect from the Season 9 premiere of the series. With that in mind, you have to think that there will be more rumors later this year. “He’s throwing himself into life with a new-found hunger for adventure”, Capaldi says of his character.

As far as the Doctor’s relationship with Clara, played by Jenna Coleman, is concerned, Capaldi said that the Doctor’s pursuit of joy, adventure, and thrill shall extend to the series’ female protagonist.

Peter Capaldi says the next series of “Doctor Who” has an “epic sweep” to it thanks to the monsters he will fight. Other actors include Jemma Redgrave and Ingrid Oliver reprising their roles as Kate Stewart and Osgood, respectively, as well as Game of Thrones actress Maisie Williams playing a mysterious role in the episodes “The Girl Who Died” and “The Woman Who Lived.” As with previous seasons, there will also be a diverse mix of old and new monsters, several of whom Capaldi describes as “very scary.” Doctor Who Season 9 will air this fall on BBC America for US viewers and BBC One for United Kingdom viewers.

“[The two-part premiere] places the Doctor in a conflict that is central to his being, as well as containning some subtle tributes to the ’60s, and truly wonderful guest performances”, states Capaldi. That includes the Time Lord making “a mistake that has cataclysmic repercussions”.

However, he added that upcoming drama for The Doctor will see him “running from something” that he “does not yet understand”.

For now, though, let’s talk guest stars!
