Hoffman is also charged with three counts of second-degree murder and the use of a firearm to commit a felony. Police say an autopsy found that the three died from gunshot wounds.

Officers then checked the home, where they found the bodies of two children – a girl in the bedroom and a boy in the living room – both with gunshot wounds to the head.
Police say documents at the home indicated the former Aracely Monroy Urruela, who originally was from El Salvador, married Hoffman in 2008.

“The court has refused, the people have refused to even talk to me about any kind of compromise”, Hoffman said, and blamed others, who at “every turn in my search for justice have systematically rejected me, trying to call me a lunatic, trying to call me names”. “Every once in a while I would hear – I guess that would be John – mumbling angrily or yelling”. Upon arrival, they observed a man exiting the house and driving from the scene in a vehicle with no lights on.
The sister-in-law of a man suspected of killing two children and a woman on Hawaii’s Big Island says she’s shocked by the allegations because he’s a caring person.
“That don’t sound right”, she said several times during a phone interview with the Associated Press from Minneapolis.
“I do know they were not a happy couple over there”, Tim Mullins said.
Lezley McSpadden was taking a cigarette break from her grocery store job when a friend called to say someone had been shot in the street near Canfield Green Apartments in Ferguson. “But before it got too bad, it would quiet out”. He said Hoffman isn’t listed as a property owner in the subdivision.
Robbins, who is in charge of enforcing association rules, said he has not heard of Hoffman.
A man who lives next door to Hoffman told the Hawaii Tribune-Herald that he occasionally heard arguments coming from the home.
Cops responded to a call about a home disturbance in the rural Puna district early Friday.
It is the only Big Island subdivision with fully paved roads, spanning 21 miles, he said.
A crime this grisly is rare, not only for the community, but for the entire Island.
“A lot of times in the mornings, I would hear him outside, ranting and venting”, he said.

Authorities say the female juvenile was seven-year-old Clara Hoffman and the male juvenile was five-year-old John Hoffman.
