Dodge Challenger And Charger SRT Hellcat Production Being Boosted

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV will more than double production of its Dodge Challenger and Charger SRT Hellcat models for the 2016 model-year, officials announced on Monday. To put that into comparison, the best quarter mile recorded by a standard Charger SRT Hellcat is 10.808 seconds. Customers with unfilled 2015 orders will receive a voucher allowing them to purchase a 2016 model at 2015 pricing.

The Dodge Challenger Hellcat will never be short on power, but that does not mean that they can’t get more because that is exactly what Hennessy is offering.

“We could not have asked for a more enthusiastic response to the Charger and Challenger SRT Hellcats”, Dodge and SRT CEO Tim Kuniskis said in a statement. Hellcat allocation is based on Dodge sales performance along with historical Hellcat “days on lot” performance and dealers will only be able to sell the amount of cars they are allocated. The calls will begin today, July 27. Meaning if you ordered a 2015 vehicle, you’re effectively screwed. But that still isn’t enough, so to get the jump on 2016 production, 2015 production is ending.

Many Dodge dealers added significant market adjustments to Hellcats, and Kuniskis said the ultimate transaction price still will be reached by the customer and the dealer. For 2016, each dealer will get a potential Hellcat allocation total for the whole model year, so they know the exact amount of cars they can sell. Those unlucky customers will receive a discount on their cars, though we bet missing out on the first year of production will still be a hard pill to swallow for fans. During the first half of 2015, the company built about 4,000 SRT Hellcats. FCA is hopeful the increase in production of the 2016 model will help make the buying process fairer. After the dealer places his or her 25 orders, FCA’s ordering system won’t let him or her place another order until the allocation period reopens in February.
