Dodgers cool off Phillies with 4-3 win

The celebration of career milestones and honoring of former stars, such as Jimmy Rollins on Tuesday night, has provided Phillies fans with temporary blinders to the laughable state the organization had subjected them to over the past few seasons. “I try to be honest and realistic when I give my assessment of how to approach the game”. Maikel Franco (.282, 40 Rs, 12 HRs, 44 RBIs, 1 SB) went 1 for 4 yesterday with one run, one home run, and four RBIs. “I was able to make some pitches and got an early 3-0 lead, it’s another quality start, and another team win”. The popular JRoll was given a rousing standing ovation as he strode to the plate for his first at-bat leading off the top of the 1st inning.

“It was cool”, he said.

The Dodgers pulled Wood for reliever Joel Peralta.

All’s well that ended well for the Phillies, however, as they would eventually end up scoring four runs in the inning, en route to a 6-2 victory. He went 7.0 innings, allowing two runs, striking out two and walking one.

Williams allowed 7 hits and walked 3 across 5 innings. After a conference, the umpires ruled a balk, leaving runners at second and third. Herrera was eventually walked to fill the bases. Franco then drove one into the seats in left field. “We all know that”.

“Although we lost, we fought them pretty hard”, Phillies manager Pete Mackanin said. He does not feel sorry for himself. “He doesn’t pout. He goes up there to do damage”.

Rollins received a warm welcome in pre-game introductions and a louder ovation when he led off the game. The shortstop tipped his hat to the crowd in gratitude before stepping into the box.

When play was resumed, the Phillies had runners on second and third and the batter, outfielder Odubel Herrera, was facing a full count. Rollins was a three-time All-Star and the 2007 NL MVP while in Philadelphia and helped the team win the 2008 World Series. 314 (11-for-35) with two homers, five doubles, nine RBI’s, and a 1.004 OPS.

Francoeur also made a terrific play in rightfield, throwing out Dodgers rookie Joc Pederson at third base with a throw that looked as if it were shot out of a cannon. That they had the bases loaded and no outs within the fourth and failed to attain. Pinch hitter Domonic Brown then grounded to second baseman Howie Kendrick, who attempted to tag Ruiz, only to see the runner stop in his tracks.

Rollins has reached safely in 10 of 11 games and his batting.

Adrian Gonzalez is 10-for-23 (.435) with three home runs, two doubles and two walks against Harang in his career.

Dodgers: RHP Walker Buehler, a first-round selection (24th overall) in the amateur draft in June, will have Tommy John surgery on Wednesday.

That became more of an issue as the Dodgers’ bullpen took over for Anderson. He’s coming off an 8-2 loss at Toronto on Wednesday’s after yielding four runs on a season-high tying 10 hits in 4 2/3 frames.
