Dodgers games to air on LA TV as Scully concludes career
KTLA is giving LA Dodger fans without a SportsNet LA subscription the chance to hear broadcasting legend Vin Scully call his final Dodger games before he retires. While the situation is a bit better this year than in years past, it’s still the case that a wide swath of the Dodgers territory is unable to watch Dodgers games on TV.

The station will also air live the pre-game tributes at Vin Scully Appreciation Day on September 23, the first game of the Rockies series.
The Dodgers had a similar arrangement in 2014 with over-the-air station KDOC to simulcast the team’s final six games of the regular season, which included the division clincher against the Giants. Scully, who has only called three other road games in 2016 – opening day in San Diego, and May 18-19 in Anaheim – plans to call all three games in San Francisco.
“We thank Charter and the entire Los Angeles Dodgers organization for the unique opportunity to honor the Dean of Sports Broadcasters, and share these iconic Dodgers games and moments with our entire KTLA5 Southern California community”, KTLA President and General Manager Don Corsini said. “This award-winning network is only available today through Charter, and providing this preview during Vin Scully’s last few games is a great way to allow all Dodgers fans to enjoy the legendary announcer as he closes out his iconic career”.
Charter acquired this year for $78 billion acquisition along with its properties including SportsNet LA, the regional sports network which has had rights to Dodgers games exclusively since 2014.
The Dodgers continue to be baffled by the AT&T/DirecTV refusal to reopen negotiations with Spectrum, but industry sources say until AT&T/DirecTV has enough customers drop their service as a direct result of those wanting the Dodgers’ channel, it financially does not make sense for them to add it.
