Dodgers hit 4 HRs in 8-3 win over Reds
The Reds won the first game in a big way, with a score of 10-3, but the Dodgers came back to win the next three. He had some harsh words for the Reds after his departure.

“He doesn’t like me out there, so I was trying to be quick”, Mattingly said. “Turn the page. It’s done and over with”. “The first at-bat I was late on the fastball, so I thought I’d try to shorten up on my swing and get in a good position”. Oddities still do exist, however, as two of his three no-decisions during that stretch have been outings in which he allowed zero runs, and he allowed six runs in one of those wins.
It helped that Mattingly coached Schumaker in 2013 when both were with the Dodgers.
Later in the inning, the sizzling Kike Hernandez followed a tying RBI single by Jimmy Rollins with a massive three-run homer halfway up the left-field pavilion for a 5-2 lead.
“I gave it everything I had, and tried mixing it up”. “The ball is coming out of my hand good”. It’s just a matter of stringing innings and pitches together. The homer, his 22nd of the season, was Pederson’s first since July 25 and only his third home run since the beginning of July.
Byrd scored on a sacrifice fly by Billy Hamilton to move the Reds in front, 1-0. L.A. maintained a 2 1/2-game lead over the San Francisco Giants in the National League West. The Dodgers don’t give up many hits to opposing batters at Dodger Stadium, ranking second in the NL with only 8.0 hits allowed per home game.
Dodgers: RHP Zack Greinke (12-2) is 7-0 with a 1.15 ERA over his last 10 starts – lowering his overall ERA to a major league-best 1.59.
Saturday night he showed off his power, capping a five-run second inning with a three-run homer in the Dodgers’ 8-3 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.
Byrd, who had to hold up in case Puig caught the ball, went to third and Barnhart was in to second with a double. Kansas City had built a 5-1 advantage heading to the eighth, but All-Star reliever Wade Davis coughed up two runs in his first appearance since August 6, when a stiff back put him on the shelf.
Pederson and Greinke then hit their homers in the bottom of the fifth.
The Dodgers are 16-7 (.696) in Greinke’s starts this year and 51-44 (.536) in all other games.
Los Angeles is a heavy -240 favorite at home and the Over/Under (O/U) for this matchup is seven runs.
Dodgers: INF Justin Turner was reinstated from the 15-day DL after recovering from a right thigh skin infection that he said was MRSA, a contagious and antibiotic-resistant staph bacteria.
Anthony DeSclafani pitched well for a rookie, making his fifth consecutive quality start in the loss. The homer against John Lamb – making his major-league debut – was Gonzalez’s 23rd of the season but only the third that has come against a left-handed pitcher.
