Rich Hill talks about his solo home run, the only run of the game in the Dodgers 1-0 victory over the Giants on Wednesday.

Bumgarner (12-8) is 0-2 with a 5.63 ERA in three starts against the Dodgers this season. Gonzalez hit a two-run single to center with the bases loaded against Bumgarner in the fifth to break a tie.

Kenley Jansen allowed a homer to Denard Span but still got his 36th save.

The Giants’ Angel Pagan extended his hitting streak to 19 games.

Kenta Maeda (13-7) allowed three runs in five innings. Craig Kimbrel got the final three outs for his 23rd save. Brandon Crawford might have seen all three while striking out to strand two runners in the first inning. The left-hander with a flourishing hop to finish his delivery struck out three and walked none, keeping San Francisco off balance all night with a combination of fastballs and curves.

Gausman permitted only one runner past second base. Arrieta has two no-hitters in the past year. Turner’s shot was the 51st allowed by Giants pitchers since the break – the third most among N.L. clubs.

Hill was incredibly effective on Wednesday, holding the Giants scoreless on five hits for six innings.

Giants: LHP Matt Moore (7-10, 4.18) is looking for his first win with San Francisco since coming over from the Tampa Bay Rays on August 1.

MIAMI – Yordano Ventura escaped two threats while pitching six innings, and Kansas City extended its winning streak to nine games. Los Angeles’ Adrian Gonzalez singled in the fourth to extend his hitting streak to 17 games. Kelvin Herrera pitched a ideal ninth for his eighth save. He was 0-for-3 with a walk. Gerrit Cole (7-9) allowed five runs in five innings.

Roberto Perez homered, and Jose Ramirez and Lonnie Chisenhall had two hits apiece for Cleveland. Los Angeles fell 5-4 to the Phillies. He would have gone further, had it not been his first start since July 17 because of a blister on the middle finger of his left (throwing) hand. Corey Knebel pitched the ninth for his first career save in his 75th game. “There is nothing you can do, it’s part of the game”, said Cueto, who is 2-1 with a 1.60 ERA in his past five starts at Dodger Stadium.

Hill (10-3) delivered in his first taste of one of baseball’s best rivalries as he threw six shutout innings with no walks and three strikeouts as he stood in the spotlight of a pressure-packed pennant race. Hill moved to 1-0 as a Dodgers starter.

The A’s took two of three games from the AL Central leaders.

The offense helped Robert Gsellman (1-0) get the decision in his major league debut.

Things look bleak for San Francisco. That would be some 50 minutes after the game’s last out was recorded.

Cardinals lefty Jaime Garcia (10-9) gave up a season-high six runs at home, in just four innings. We’re taking it one game at a time.

Davis had struck out in six consecutive at-bats before hitting his 33rd home run of the season off starter Danny Salazar. That’s the most by an Oakland player since Jack Cust hit 33 in 2008.

Danny Salazar (11-5) left after giving up a leadoff double in the fifth.

SEATTLE (AP) – Rookie Gary Sanchez kept up his torrid stretch with his seventh home run in the past nine games, and Masahiro Tanaka won his fourth straight start in New York’s victory over Seattle.

Sabathia (8-10) was 2-6 with a 6.78 ERA in his previous 11 starts. “It was just a rough one”.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Dodgers are -140 money line favorites versus the Giants, who have odds of +125 to pull off the upset in L.A. With Johnny Cueto set to oppose Rich Hill in the pitching matchup, the over/under now sits at 7 runs. He struck out only two batters but he didn’t walk anyone and relied on the Giants’ steady defense to record outs against a weak NY lineup.
