Price surrendered three runs in the inning, but was beaten by Segedin again in the fifth as he served up a two-run single to the rookie in an error-filled inning. McCarthy walked five batters again, the second time in a row after never walking more than four in any of his first 162 major league starts.
As he rounds third and heads home in his final Major League Baseball season, David Ortiz is making sure he covers all the bases. Segedin drove home two more runs with a run-scoring single in the inning for a four-run Dodgers’ cushion. Three Boston errors didn’t help his cause.

Manager Dave Roberts trusted Dayton enough to let him bat for himself in the bottom of the inning so he could stay in and pitch the seventh. The Dodgers selected the contract of INF/OF Rob Segedin from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Segedin wasn’t on the 40-man, so the Dodgers optioned Chris Taylor to Triple-A in order to make room for him.
