Dodgers to call up top shortstop prospect Corey Seager
San Diego’s Justin Upton is 10-for-20 with two homers against scheduled Los Angeles starter Mat Latos while Matt Kemp is just 3-for-22.

After a sweep of the San Francisco Giants, the Dodgers are now seating a top the NL West with a 6.5 games ahead of the second place Giants.
Former Trojan star Corey Seager was called up to the Show.
Up 7-4 in the sixth inning, the Dodgers allowed single runs in the sixth and seventh innings, the latter a towering home run to near the top of the Western Metal Supply Building in the left field corner by Yangervis Solarte.
Kevin Quackenbush (3-2) pitched two scoreless innings to earn the victory.
The move might seem obvious to baseball fans who watch the prospect rankings, but CBS says that Seager’s numbers at Triple-A weren’t exactly that impressive. Johnson (2-6) suffered the loss as the Dodgers lost for only the second time in their last 10 games. Seager will face Colin Rea on Thursday, who is a highly thought of prospect in the Padres organization in his own right.
That led to the Padres bring in left-hander Marc Rzepczynski.
With two out, second baseman Chase Utley topped a ball back toward Rzepczynski, who threw wild to first for an error that allowed Ruggiano to score the fifth run of the inning. Two batters later, Derrick Norris doubled home Upton. But he’s struggled in three starts since then, giving up a combined 13 runs on 18 hits and five walks in that stretch, and he hasn’t reached the five-inning mark since that very first appearance as a Dodger on August 2nd.
That would line up Zack Greinke and Clayton Kershaw to pitch in the first two games of the road series against the Angels that starts Monday. The majority of his action came with Oklahoma City, where he hit.276/.331/.450 with 44 extra-base hits in 416 at bats, all from the left side of the plate.

Seager will make his major league debut Thursday, batting eighth in the order and playing short stop against the Padres.
