Several news outlets have noted that the song The Snow and Ice Dance sounds very similar to the smash hit Let It Go from Disney’s winter-themed blockbuster Frozen.

The YouTube page for the song in question, “The Snow and Ice Dance”, features lots of commentors accusing the would-be anthem of ripping off one of the most played songs of the last decade.

“I almost sang ‘Let it Go!'” wrote commenter Zeta Fera.

Beijing hosted the summer Olympics in 2008.

“Rubbish country“, wrote leckylecky.

“Have you no shame?” read one of several hostile messages posted on the composer’s account on Weibo, China’s Twitter.

But just how similar are the two songs? Caijing Online stated that the main similarities of the two songs include the piano being the most dominant instrument, similar prelude chords and an eight-beat introduction, and both songs run at nearly exactly the same tempo.

Mr David J. Jefferson, vice-president of corporate communications at Disney in Studio City, California, also did not respond immediately to requests for comment.

In the comment section to the story on the popular Sina News site, user @Huaxingdao called the alleged copying “shameless” and “leaving a bad taste in our mouths after the bidding victory”. Recently, the Chinese movie The Autobots was said to bear a striking resemblance to Disney Pixar’s Cars.

Second is “Come and Ski on the Great Wall”, performed by the male duo Lu Han and Tao Zhe.
