Since some dogs will eat pretty much anything put in front of them, Charlie ate the heroin. “We’re treating her but you need to come as soon as you can”, she remembers them saying.
“You can’t process the fact that your dog ate heroin”, Laura, Charlie the dog’s owner, told KMGH.
Surveillance video showed multiple dogs ate the heroin, including a golden retriever named Charlie who almost died.
“You can see her chewing on it as she walks away”, Bishop said while looking at the video.
A couple seconds further into the video, an employee shows up and picks up the packets.
Laura said when she got the call at work. she was told, “She’s high on heroin”. “The employee saved her life”.
“I’m upset. I’m grateful that she’s alive”, said Laura.
“She was really drugged up, really out of it”. If you want to sell drugs to people, sell drugs to people that want to do drugs. If you want to run your life – if you want to sell drugs to people, sell drugs to people that want to do drugs, you’re ruining their life.
“She still has no energy”, she said.
Bishop said the incident highlights a much bigger problem.
“We find needles, we find everything around here”. An employee noticed what was going on and rushed over to begin picking up the drugs.
Police said the suspect was taken into custody and is likely to face drug charges.
Found in possession with 100 grams of the drug carries a punishment of a minimum of five years imprisonment.
Police say they saw the suspect dealing drugs, which led to a vehicle chase and the packs of heroin being thrown over the fence, according to KMGH.
