The dog did not have tags or a collar, police said.

The dog is described as brown with two white back paws and is roughly one to three years old.
The Wallingford Animal Control is hoping to find out who is responsible for killing the dog, who they have dubbed “Noel”.
It appears that whoever shot the dog tried to hide the cruel act – the dog’s body was found over an embankment and she had been wrapped in a blue tarp. The owner isn’t suspected of harming the dog, which seemed to have only been left where it was found less than 24 hours earlier.
“When we got the phone call, at first we were obviously a little bit shocked”, said Animal Control Officer Katie Ehlers. The owner “very much” wants to know who did this to her dog, Ehlers said.
Tyler Mill is a mostly wooded 1,000-acre preserve on the east side of town. It was spayed and appeared to be healthy, police said.
It is patrolled by police regularly.
