Dog stands guard over fallen friend
‘Whether it was his companion in his yard at home or whether they met up as strays, but something made him stay by her side’.

A passer-by notified local animal advocate Julie Fennell who, along with another woman, retrieved Brian and Marley from a sidewalk near Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery and drove them in separate vehicles to the city’s shelter.
When they approached the body, the dog standing guard barked.
Jessy Faiferlick, an animal volunteer, rushed to the site and arrived to find the flea-ridden dog in less than an hour.
Dallas Animal Services are now attempting to trace an owner and are looking after the dog, who had no collar or microchip. Brians owners have declined media requests for interviews and are asking for privacy.
The Great Pyrenees, known as Brian, disappeared from the family home Sunday when someone accidentally left the garage door open.
The heartbreaking image, which shows a Great Pyrenees sitting by the kerb before the battered body of its companion, was shared to the Facebook page of Samuel Flores on November 9.
If not, he’ll be released to a rescue group where he will be put up for adoption.
The family, who has not been identified, said Brian is ” very mild mannered and enjoys the company of people”.

The family said it was grateful for the support of rescuers, DAS and the community.
