Dole Fresh Vegetables is voluntarily recalling a limited number of cases of bagged salad.

Dole Fresh Vegetables has announced a recall of its “Dole Spinach” bagged greens due to a possible salmonella contamination.

Consumers who have any remaining product with these product codes should not consume it, but rather discard it. Retailers and consumers with questions may call the Dole Food Co. Random tests by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural development turned up positive for the bacteria.

Dole is now reaching out to stores to make sure they pull the product from grocery shelves.

The salads were distributed in Connecticut, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Wisconsin. Young children, older adults, and people who have a weakened immune system are the most likely to develop severe infections.

Salmonella is a foodborne illness that causes nausea, diarrhea, vomiting and abnormal pain in those infected. It usually lasts four to seven days.
