Dolly Parton and Katy Perry to perform duet at Country Music Awards

Country icon Dolly Parton and pop star Katy Perry will sing together at next month’s Academy of Country Music Awards, where Parton will receive a special award for her recent television movie about her childhood. Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors was based on Parton’s life and featured Alyvia Alyn Lind as Dolly at age nine. Bryan and Bentley will be co-hosting this year’s ceremony.

“Katy’s wanting to do Jolene, too”, Dolly added.

Meanwhile, Katy has expressed her excitement at the duet in a Twitter post shortly after Monday’s announcement.

Perry is a huge fan of Parton and recently revealed that she tried, and failed, to get the country singer to perform alongisde her during her Super Bowl half-time show previous year.

– Dolly Parton (@DollyParton) March 21, 2016 MY PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED I shall remember though that I am but one sequin on this living legend’s costume! The Academy gives the award to a movie which features country music.

NBC aired Parton’s critically acclaimed film in 2015, with 16 million viewers tuning in to watch the inspirational tale.

The 51st edition of the annual country music ceremony is being broadcast live from Las Vegas on the evening of Sunday April 3rd, hosted by Dierks Bentley and Luke Bryan.
