Dolly Parton’s song ‘Jolene’ to become an NBC movie

The song tells the story of a woman who tries to steal away another woman’s man and was inspired by the time a bank teller flirted with Parton’s husband when they were newly married. The network said at the TV Critics Association Press Tour that the second film will be based on the song “Jolene”.

Dolly Parton”s songs have been covered numerous times by a variety of different artists but now her lyrics are inspiring other parts of the entertainment industry, including film and television makers”.

Parton, who is executive producing the project, emphasized the theme of family.

“This little story just encompasses so many things”, Parton said, as Rolling Stone reports. This once-in-a-lifetime movie special takes place inside the tight-knit Parton family as they struggle to overcome devastating tragedy and discover the healing power of love, faith, and a raggedy patchwork coat that helped make Parton who she is today. The song became a No. 1 single on the country charts. It is expected to air around the holidays.
