Dolphins at Jets Week 12 keys to a Miami win

“I kind of miss it”. They extended that lead to 14-0 in the second quarter on a 16-yard pass from Fitzpatrick to Devin Smith, and took it to 21-0 in the third quarter on a 2-yard touchdown pass from Fitzpatrick to Eric Decker. Marshall was in early season form, using his height advantage over Miami CB Brent Grimes to pull down pass after pass. The Jets limited him to four catches for 40 yards in Week 4, but without Revis, Landry could get free just a little bit easier. While the Jets can least afford a loss here, Miami scoring a divisional road win and moving to 5-6 would at least put them on the fringes of contention, especially with a home game against the depleted Baltimore Ravens next on the schedule. Their latest defeat came at the hand of the New York Jets and the final score wasn’t as close as it may indicate.

“I think we’re awake”, Bowles said when asked if the team needed a wakeup call.

NY is 4-1 ATS in its lat five games against Miami and the Dolphins are just 4-11 ATS in their last five games. “This was an important one for us”.

The Dolphins only rushed the ball nine times for 12 yards.

It was the fewest yards on the ground the Jets have allowed in franchise history, which dates to 1960 in the AFL. Over that stretch, they only ran for 78 yards per game total, and a not-so-insignificant percentage of those yards actually came from some big runs by the quarterbacks. They’ve seen enough, and Campbell seemed to know it too after the Dolphins fell to 3-4 under his watch (and 1-4 in the last five games). In contrast, Dolphins’ running back Lamar Miller was held to a mere 26 yards on seven carries. Only one game separates the Jets, Bills and Dolphins. Landry caught 13 passes for 165 yards and he scored a touchdown. The Dolphins had no backup center Sunday, so rookie reserve right guard Jamil Douglas had to finish the game out.

“When I first got here, it was a lot of teaching and things going on”, Coples said. “Those are the facts”. He did not return to the game with a rib and chest injury.

Strong run defense and protecting Ryan Tannehill will be the key to this game.

Jets safety Calvin Pryor set the tone early with his punishing hits. “But to celebrate when a guy’s down is kind of a classless move”. Miami’s best threat in the half ended in Tannehill’s poorly thrown attempt to Kenny Stills. Sorry if you felt I was classless at the moment.
