Miami announced Tuesday Jordan was placed on the non-football injury list, which will sideline him for the first six weeks of the regular season.

Backup linebacker Zach Vigil, who is recovering from a back injury, was also placed on the non-football injury list.

Both players will now miss at least the first six weeks of the season.

Vigil has a back injury that has been ailing him. He had just 37 tackles and three sacks in his first two seasons before sitting out a year ago.

He has not played since the 2014 season and has been suspended three times during his brief National Football League career. Head coach Adam Gase has praised Jordan for his work ethic since returning from a year-long suspension for a diluted drug test sample in 2015.

Jordan has missed training camp and the entire preseason due to undergoing knee surgery in July.

In 2013-14, the former OR standout appeared in 26 games and totaled 46 tackles, three sacks and three passes defensed. So I just put my mind to it. Last season, Vigil played in all 16 games for the Dolphins and he recorded 18 tackles and he blocked a punt.
