Domino’s Has a Pizza Delivery Robot
It’s certainly possible, and Domino’s is leading the charge.

Transport Minister Simon Bridges said New Zealand is one of the first countries in the world being considered for testing the autonomous pizza delivery unit named DRU.
The robots will travel on foot-paths and will be able to detect obstacles in its way, according to the release. No word yet on whether it will require a tip.
“Imagine a world in which your pizza is delivered by a driverless vehicle”.
While this sounds like an elaborate marketing stunt, a Domino’s spokesperson confirmed that the robot is real. And now, Domino’s Australia has announced the newest member of its team, DRU (short for Domino’s Robotic Unit).
While the pizza robot is a futuristic innovation that will change the food service business forever, the machine is still undergoing a series of trials before it delivers your weekend pizza.
Google’s self-driving cars and Amazon’s delivery drone have both been leapfrogged by a pizza company.
Three years ago, Domino’s United Kingdom showed off a concept drone that delivers pizza. The mini robots will have compartments built to keep pizza piping hot, as well as a “friendly persona”, which the chain says will “help customers identify and interact with it”. The company is working to test it further before launching it everywhere.
“DRU is cheeky and endearing and we are confident that one day he will become an integral part of the Domino’s family”, Domino’s New Zealand general manager Scott Bush said.
