The Pratyusha Banerjee suicide case sent shockwaves through the nation.

The Bombay high court on Tuesday granted interim protection from arrest to Rahul Raj Singh, who has been booked for allegedly driving his live-in partner and television actor Pratushya Banerjee to suicide. Rahul, was the one who took Pratyusha to the hospital where she was declared dead. Rahul has been booked for abetting the crime.

Statements from her close friends and co-actors suggest that the starlet was in an unhappy and abusive relationship with her boyfriend. When he got up to argue his case, the judge said he hasn’t attended the police station and the police must be allowed to record his statement. “However, her bank balance shows that she was doing well financially”.

At Bangur Nagar police stop, Sharma was named on Sunday evening and police inspector Deepak Phatangare registered his assertion.

Following Pratyusha’s death, on April 03, Singh had got admitted in a private hospital in Kandivli after having complained of chest pain and breathlessness.

On the night of Pratyusha’s death, Gupta said, Rahul was partying in Andheri with another woman.

While speaking to media, consulting doctor of Singh Dr Santosh Goel said, “Rahul’s health condition is improving and if the court orders or if the police wants then he can be shifted to a government hospital”. She told the police that she had given a loan of Rs 25,000 to Rahul for starting an event management company and was hounding him only for repayment. According to reports, Rahul’s ex-girlfriend had assaulted Pratyusha on several occasions in Rahul’s absence.

Singh has been directed to attend Bangur Nagar police station everyday from tomorrow onwards
