As for the Vita, it’s only a matter of time. Sony is seeing massive success with their PlayStation 4, despite the track records with Vita and PlayStation TV so whatever comes next will be nothing if not interesting.
“People have mobile phones, and it’s so easy to play games on smartphones”, he said. I myself am a huge fan of the Vita, and we worked really hard on designing every aspect. Therefore, occasional touch-based mini-games shouldn’t be a big concern. But having sticks and buttons make things totally different.
“That’s a tough question”, he replied when asked about a PlayStation Vita 2. However, Yoshida also added alongside that he is not expecting the launch of a Vita 2 version in the near future. Nonetheless, he also highlighted the fact that, at present, dedicated portable market is “not healthy” because mobile devices are increasingly dominating the portable-gaming scenario.
We haven’t been able to test the hack for ourselves yet, but Vita Reviews has a growing list of Vita games and apps that are newly playable on a hacked PlayStation TV system.

It’s just not working out the way Sony had hoped but indeed, there are culture and market reasons.
