Don’t panic, but there’s a king cobra on the loose in Orlando
Florida Fish and Wildlife officials are searching for an 8-foot-long king cobra snake that escaped in Orlando. That’s the area of Apopka Vineland around Steeplechase Boulevard and Hackney Prairie Road, north of Silver Star Road. The owner is an experienced snake handler, FWC said. “We believe it’s going to stay on the property here which is a heavily-wooded area”.

An 8 foot long king cobra is on the loose in Orlando, authorities have warned. They say the owner has a permit for the snake and have yet to determine if he will be charged. If you see it, don’t touch it. For the love of god.
Wildlife officials said the home where the snake escaped from is a rescue for exotic animals. Clarcona Elementary School is less than a mile from the home. The green-and-yellow male snake is 8-feet long and looks identical to the image provided by FWC above.
FWC officials are canvassing the area and ask that anyone who comes across the snake to call FWC’s Wildlife Alert Hotline at 888-404-3922.
There are also a few king cobra Twitter accounts, including @KingCobraInORL, where it appears the cobra is out on the town.

A bite from one of these snakes, the commission said, could kill an elephant.
