To play Shipwrecked you only need the core game and don’t also need to own Reign of Giants.
If you are looking forward to surviving in another location – this time perhaps with a tropical cocktail in your hand on a desert island – then Shipwrecked is certainly going to pique your interest.
The latest Don’t Starve expansion, Shipwrecked, will crash headlong into Steam Early Access in December.
It will only be playable in Early Access on PC at its initial launch, although it is suggested the expansion might find its way to other platforms in the future.

Announced back in the summer when the baking sun of its concept art didn’t appear quite so exotic, Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked promises new playable characters, biomes, creatures and seasonal effects, plus that familiar slow starvation we’ve grown so fond of. There’s be regular updates offering new stuff as well as tweaks and bug fixes. However, those who’ve become big fans of playing Don’t Starve Together with close friends or loved ones might be disappointed to know Shipwrecked isn’t now compatible with the game’s multiplayer expansion. Klei says Mac and Linux support will arrive at a later date.
