Don’t want India-Pakistan tensions to spiral out of control
Grenier said that over the past five decades, the USA has been willing, episodically to overlook its concerns with aspects of Pakistani behaviour and to subordinate those concerns in the face of what have appeared, at the time, to be overriding national security priorities – only to revert to a more contentious relationship when those interests no longer pertained. Jaishankar said action against some groups was not a “justification for giving [a] free pass, let alone active support” to other ones.

Over 70 people have died in large-scale violence in the state since then.
“There is a connect between state actor and non-state actor that is why we use the word “sponsored”, Mr Jaishankar said replying to a query in a conference organised by East West Centre.
He was responding to questions about USA, while supporting India’s stand on terrorism, also saying that Pakistan was fighting against terrorism by taking action against various groups. “The state can not escape responsibility by saying its non-state”, Jaishankar said at the conference.
Mr Jaishankar said, Physical connectivity with ASEAN can be a game changer.
He said China was expected to be appreciative of India’s interests, especially when they were not in conflict with those of Beijing, and noted that it was imperative for the future of Asia and the world, that the two nations approached each other with strategic maturity.
Chouhan added that China posed as a hurdle for India in getting the membership of Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), but China needs India’s support to get the membership of Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR). India has a policy of zero tolerance to terrorism. Toner further said that John Kerry visited Middle East countries and Asian counties including India for enhancing economic matters.
India said that the sensitive nature of Indo-Chinese ties demands extra precaution from both sides to sustain relations.
“In the last decade, commerce has grown 10-fold to the $70 billion level and it accounts for roughly 10 percent of India’s global trade”, he stated. Jaishankar said that India seeks Japan’s co-operation for high-speed railways, additional industrial corridor and for sectors such as energy while with South Korea, India would like to enhance its ship-building and maritime transport.

The foreign office spokesman also said that Pakistan and United States are coalition partners in the war against terrorism.
