Donald Glover’s Atlanta Makes FX’s Biggest Comedy Debut Since 2013

Donald Glover’s new show “Atlanta” on FX is already a huge television hit.

Atlanta” is FX Networks’ most-watched original comedy series premiere in both key measures since the premiere of “Wilfred” in June 2011. According to the stats surrounding last week’s double-episode premiere, the answer is a very firm hell yes.

FX’s comedy series Atlanta drew big numbers among total viewers and adults 18-49 in its September 6 debut. When measured under the Live+3 (i.e. DVR-esque viewing included) criteria, that brings Atlanta’s total audience for the series premiere to an impressive 3 million.

Atlanta” Season 1 Episode 3 aired on FX Tuesday night (Sep. 13).

Brian Tyree Henry plays “Alfred Miles”, Atlanta’s hot of the moment rapper who plans to capitalize on the sudden fame as quickly as possible. Zazie Beetz plays “Van”, a pragmatist caught up in a complicated relationship with Earn (Donald Glover) due to their daughter. Glover serves as executive producer, along with Paul Simms and Dianne McGunigle of MGMT Entertainment.

The series has earned strong critical praise and now holds a staggering 100 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
