The opposition in Mexico was livid the President did not seize the opportunity to demand from Trump a public apology and allowed him instead to appear as a moderate.

Less than a month ago, the Indy Chamber, the Indiana Restaurant and Lodging Association and the Indiana Latino Institute made a joint call for immigration reform.
Trump mentioned high-profile California cases of people allegedly killed by undocumented immigrants – Kate Steinle last year in San Francisco, Marilyn Pharis last year in Santa Maria, and Placer County sheriff’s Detective Michael Davis and Sacramento County sheriff’s Deputy Danny Oliver in 2014 in Sacramento.
By asserting authority to pick and choose immigrants, Trump was defending some of his most controversial campaign proposals – including a ban on Muslims, which he called for and has not yet disavowed, and a more targeted restriction on immigrants from countries that don’t satisfy his vetting requirements.
Donald Trump’s campaign has been dedicated to making America great again, but he’s not stopping there. “But we now have an obligation to them”, Trump said, echoing Obama’s 2014 sentiment.
Kaine contrasted the Clinton-Kaine immigration policy with Trump’s plan.
However, Trump told a cheering crowd of supporters in Arizona later on Wednesday that Mexico would pay for the wall “100 percent”. Silent at that moment, Pena Nieto later tweeted, “I made it clear that Mexico will not pay for the wall”. “This is not the time to work a deal on who pays for the wall”.
The Republican presidential nominee told conservative radio host Laura Ingraham that there’s “really quite a bit of softening” in his position.
Peña Nieto’s tweet Thursday afternoon was in response to a Trump tweet earlier Thursday morning, in which Trump merely said, “Mexico will pay for the wall!”
He said the only way undocumented foreigners could live in the United States legally if he is elected on November 8 would be to leave the country and apply for re-entry.
With the meeting held behind closed doors, it was impossible to know who was telling the truth.
The trip was not only a stroke to lock down the usually reliable GOP state, but also a testament to the influence of Nick Ayers, who is Pence’s senior adviser and married to one of the senator’s distant cousins.
“Our enforcement priorities will include removing criminals, gang members, security threats, visa overstays”, Trump said Wednesday.
Trump said he would also establish a “deportation task force” to identify criminals subject to deportation, would triple the number of federal deportation officers, and increase the number of border patrol stations.
Trump’s rhetoric would have fit right into the Republican primary.
“At this point, I just don’t see how I can support him”. He said the simpler path would have been to do nothing, but he believed it necessary to stress to Trump the importance of the U.S. -Mexico relationship.

Trump was cheered in Arizona, but his appearance in Mexico sparked anger and protests.
