Donald Trump backs controversial ‘waterboarding’ of terrorists

When posed the same question, Donald Trump agreed that waterboarding isn’t torture, but said he would “bring back a hell of a lot worse” if he were elected president.

CNN’s Jake Tapper has taken his show on the road, hosting State of the Union live from New Hampshire tomorrow morning.

At Saturday’s Republican debate in New Hampshire, Trump noted that in the Middle East, “we have people chopping the heads off Christians, we have people chopping the heads off many other people”.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz said at the most recent Republican debate held last Saturday that although he does not believe waterboarding to be torture, he would not bring back the “widespread use” of the practice. When asked if he would advocate perpetrating tit-for-tat beheadings of extremists, Trump became characteristically evasive, refusing to categorically say that he wouldn’t, but similarly refusing to define what “worse than waterboarding” might actually mean. I want one thing: “On Tuesday, you have to get out and vote”.

“Everyone else is taking money, I call them the bloodsuckers”.

‘I can look ’em in the face, ‘ Trump said of the children, without batting an eye. He stressed that politics was divided not by parties but between the American people and career politicians, as well as promising to bring troops stationed overseas back home.

“We’re like living in medieval times“.

However, Trump also said that waterboarding is permissible because of the information it yields – something experts say is untrue.

He continued: “The man would keep this country safe, there’s no doubt about it”. “We’re going to build a wall”.

Ultimately I think the testament to any person is their track record and that’s not just their professional track record, of which his is well known, he is enormously accomplished, he’s employed tens of thousands of people, he’s achieved success in multiple industries at the highest level.

“What’s very surprising is we never get to see the reality of what he’s going through, with the security and the entourage”, she said.

Cruz said that “under the definition of torture”, waterboarding would be classified as “enhanced interrogation”, due to the fact that it is not “excruciating pain that is equivalent to losing organs and system”.

As Gawker pointed out, Eric Trump went to Georgetown, where Greek life had been limited until recently, so there is a good chance that he doesn’t know much about frat house shenanigans.

The accusation that he was set up came as Trump seeks to gain ground after a less than lustrous finish in Iowa, stepping up his efforts in New Hampshire, by adding primary-eve rallies and retail events.

Bannon asked Ivanka Trump for her perspective on her father’s use of that word during the evening rally.

Trump, who missed a day of campaigning here Friday because his plane couldn’t land in the snow, arrived at Plymouth State after shaking hands at a diner. The people of New Hampshire are smart.

One of the things he would always say to us is you have to do what it is you are passionate about. “Donald Trump is still in the lead, but I don’t think the lead is anywhere near 15 or 20 points”.
