Donald Trump calls President Obama the ‘founder of ISIS’

On Friday, Trump passed off as sarcasm the assertion he made repeatedly this week that President Barack Obama and Clinton were “co-founders” of Islamic State and its Most Valuable Players.

“In many respects, you know, they honor President Obama”, Trump said Wednesday during a raucous campaign rally outside Ft. “He’s the founder of ISIS“.

‘He [Obama] was the founder of ISIS. “And he is the founder and she is right there with him”, Trump said. As for who founded ISIS (spoiler: it’s not Obama) Graeme Wood’s brilliant 2015 Atlantic essay thoroughly investigates the origins of the Islamic State.

“He is the founder of ISIS”, he told supporters, adding of his Democratic rival: “And I would say the co-founder is crooked Hillary Clinton”.

Last week, Donald Trump declared Hillary Clinton to be the founder of the Islamic State.

Trump’s accusation – and his use of the president’s middle name, Hussein – echoed previous instances where he’s questioned Obama’s loyalties. Declare victory and leave, because I’ll tell you, this country is just going to get further bogged down.

Trump claimed Wednesday that Obama was the “founder of ISIS” during a rally, then doubled down on Thursday when asked by conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt to clarify that statement.

Donald Trump has changed his tune on one of his most controversial comments yet.

A White House spokesman declined to comment. He further has repeatedly criticized Clinton for her handling of a siege on the United States diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, in 2012.

Obama, who plans to campaign for Clinton, has called Trump “unfit to serve as president” and encouraged Republicans to abandon him at a news conference earlier this month.

For anyone anxious that Donald Trump will foment a wave of political violence following his increasingly probable loss this November, we’ve got good news and bad news.

In a rare show of humility by the boastful billionaire, Donald Trump is acknowledging that his presidential campaign faces challenges and could ultimately fall short. They created the Libyan vacuum, they created the vacuum into which ISIS came, but they didn’t create ISIS.

“I hope the Republicans are watching closely”, he said.

“If they gave a trophy for most valuable player, the victor of the trophy for ISIS would probably have to be Hillary Clinton”, he said.
