Donald Trump defends Putin’s record on killing journalists
Putin and Trump traded compliments last week, with the Russian president calling Trump a “very talented” person.

Donald Trump has defended Russian President Vladimir Putin, who praised the Republican in recent event, from allegations that he ordered journalists to be killed. Asked to condemn the Kremlin’s alleged involvement in the assassination of reporters, Mr. Trump said, “Our country does plenty of killing, also”. “He’s always denied it”, Trump said of Putin. Do you know the names of the reporters that he’s killed because I’ve been, you know, you’ve been hearing this but I haven’t seen the name. I’m saying, when you say a man has killed reporters, I’d like you to prove it. And I’m saying it would be a awful thing if it were true.
The former Republican nominee for president tweeted, “Important distinction: thug Putin kills journalists and opponents; our presidents kill terrorists and enemy combatants”.
Trump, who has said before that he believes he’d get along well with the Russian leader, added that he’s “read those allegations”.
Talk about an unlikely bromance: Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. Other people say he didn’t.
“It is always a great honor to be so nicely complimented by a man so highly respected within his own country and beyond”, Trump said at a rally in Columbus, Ohio.
He added: “If he has killed reporters, I think that’s awful”.
He backed Russia’s role in the Iran nuclear deal, saying it makes sense Putin would want closer ties to Tehran now that the United States has agreed to loosen economic sanctions on the country – freeing up more money to purchase missiles.
“I hate some of these people, I hate ’em”, Trump told the crowd.
ABC News digital journalist Ali Weinberg agreed that it was probably a good thing that Trump wouldn’t kill reporters, being one herself. Three-quarters of Americans have no confidence in Putin to do the “right thing regarding world affairs”.

“You don’t brag about what a great guy he is”, Bush said. He also brushed off concerns Friday raised by MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough that Putin kills journalists.

Reminded that Putin is accused of ordering the murder of journalists, Trump effectively said he doesn’t care. Bush came away with warm enough feelings to nickname the Russian leader “Pootie-poot”, according to news reports, and describe him as “very straightforward and trustworthy”.
