Donald Trump down plays post-‘Brexit’ market turmoil on Aberdeen visit
Wearing an open-necked shirt, a suit and a white baseball cap with his slogan “Make America great again”, Trump was asked if he was anxious about the volatility in financial markets following Britain’s vote to leave the European Union on Thursday.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee said “We must suspend immigration from regions linked with terrorism until a proven vetting method is in place”. Among them: a belief that globalisation is hurting the working class, and increased immigration is changing the country’s character.
“If the pound goes down, more people are coming to Turnberry frankly”, Trump said, referring to his latest golf resort.
“We don’t have time for just popping off and saying just whatever comes to the top of our heads”, Obama added.
“The demonstration I think will reflect that very well”.
“I think his recommendation perhaps caused it to fail”, he said.
Trump reportedly invested United States dollars 300 million into the resort.
The decision by British voters to leave the European Union sent shudders through European capitals and shock waves through the financial markets. Basically, they took back their country. “They don’t necessarily want people pouring into their country that they don’t know who they are or where they come from, they have no idea”.
“I think it’s troubling for Hillary Clinton to watch this vote happen over in Europe”, ABC News political analyst Matthew Dowd said on “Good Morning America” today. In July 2015, Nelson accosted former Federation Internationale de Football Association president Sepp Blatter during a press conference and showered him with fake dollar bills, joking, “This is for North Korea in 2026”.
Together with Thursday’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling blocking President Barack Obama’s immigration reforms, the vote did put some wind back in Trump’s sails, said Kevin Appleby, the director of global migration policy at the Center for Migration Studies of NY.
In fact, the country voted widely in favor of remaining by 62% to 38%, though the United Kingdom as a whole decidedly voted to leave the union.
The last Republican presidential nominee, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, in 2012 made a gaffe-filled campaign trip to London, Jerusalem and Poland.
Months ago more than half a million Britons signed a petition to bar Trump from entering Britain, where he has several business interests, in response to his call to temporarily ban Muslims from entering the US. In true Scottish spirit, some were said to be be carrying Mexican flags, while a group dressed as a Mariachi band was also said to have traveled to greet Trump.
Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook acknowledged parallels between the populist anger and anti-establishment fervor that fueled the Brexit vote and Trump’s rise to the nomination, but said the Republican candidate’s reaction showed he was not fit to occupy the White House. British law makers decided against a ban as a violation of free speech.
The Stand Up To Trump protest is being staged at Turnberry after nearly 587,000 people signed a petition calling for the controversial billionaire himself to be banned from entering the UK. “Texas will never do that because Texas loves me”.
Mr Trump tweeted ahead of his visit: “Leaving now for a one night trip to Scotland in order to be at the Grand Opening of my great Turnberry Resort”.
