Donald Trump and Ted Cruz are effectively the 1-2 choice of Republican voters in a flurry of new polls released over the weekend.

This doesn’t mean Cruz will lose in Iowa – though Trump has regained the lead there according to new polls out Monday – and it doesn’t mean that the Cruz birther issue will have legs.
Most people, of course, consider Ted Cruz’s birth to an American mother-thus making him an American citizen at birth-to be conclusive. The Republican Party spent years trying to convince American voters that President Obama was not actually an American citizen, and Trump himself was one of the leading whackos demanding to see President Obama’s birth certificate. Legal scholars generally agree the description covers foreign-born children of United States parents. “Maybe, but I think the courts will have to decide it, because it’s never really been decided”.
Speaking to radio host Howie Carr, Cruz continued the attacks, subtlety raising questions about Trump’s values. All that said, I’m not sure I’d bet against Cruz in Hawkeyeland or Trump in “Live Free or Die’ country as of this moment”.
With three weeks until the Iowa caucuses, Trump is trying to break Ted Cruz’s tenuous grip on first place in the state.
After speaking with Cruz, Mechler said he figured the proposal would have been duplicative because the order of the early voting states is likely to come up at the Republican National Convention in July in Cleveland. “There is one Democratic congressman who said he will file a lawsuit over this”, Paul said, referring to Rep. “She and Donald know each other well”, he went on, “and I do think it’s interesting that Hillary Clinton’s key supporters are doing everything they can to echo Donald’s attacks on me”.
In a theoretical match up with Donald Trump, Sanders leads in Iowa by 13 points.

Cruz’s recent polling surge has thrust him into a two-man race with Trump in Iowa while he closes the gap with the GOP front-runner nationally – and as the race has tightened, the rhetoric has escalated. “If Cruz is the nominee, there isn’s a single young person, woman or Hispanic anywhere who will want to put on our jersey”, he said.
