Donald Trump endorses high-ranking Republicans, ends 4-day standoff
In his earlier interview for the Washington Post, Mr Trump had said he was “just not quite there yet” when asked if he would endorse Mr Ryan and Arizona Sen McCain.

While they might “disagree on a couple of things”, they agreed on a lot as well, he added.
On Friday, Trump also expressed support for McCain, saying he holds him “in the highest esteem” and praised his lengthy service to the United States, a further effort at damage control.
Now, ostensibly in a bid to try to unite the party, Trump has officially-albeit belatedly-endorsed the re-elections of Speaker Paul Ryan and senators John McCain and Kelly Ayotte.
“Arm in arm, we will rescue the country from the Obama-Clinton disaster”, Trump told supporters after formally declaring his support for Ryan in next week’s congressional primary.
The two Republicans have been on and off again over the past year since Trump questioned McCain’s war record.
“If he can’t get in line with majority of the electorate on the biggest issue [immigration], he should resign, and we should get someone who fulfills the wishes and the hopes of the majority who just nominated Trump”, she said. “I like people who weren’t captured”.
“In one way, she’s a monster”, he said in Wisconsin. John McCain and New Hampshire Sen. Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos offered a blunt message ahead of the presidential nominee’s arrival: “We are Ryan Republicans here in Wisconsin, not Trump Republicans”.
Neither Ryan nor Wisconsin’s Republican governor, Scott Walker, showed up for Trump’s Green Bay event. He reiterated his support for Trump hours before the endorsement, but he noted that his support wasn’t a “blank check” and pledged to speak out against the businessman’s divisive positions if necessary.
“It doesn’t make me feel good when people say those things, and I recognize that I have work to do”, Clinton said. Ted Cruz, and his enduring friction with GOP leaders there does not bode well for him in what is already one of the toughest presidential battleground states for any Republican.
This, one day after Trump said he isn’t ready to endorse Ryan in this race. “The national media will interpret the result of Paul Ryan getting renominated as a defeat of Trump Republicanism”, Lee said.

Paul Ryan, whose primary for his House seat is next week, has chided Trump for engaging in a flap with the family of a dead Muslim U.S. soldier.
