Donald Trump endorses House Speaker Paul Ryan
Reeling from missteps that have alarmed many fellow Republicans, Donald Trump endorsed House Speaker Paul D. Ryan for re-election on Friday in a grudging move to unite the badly fractured party.

Ryan – who is facing a challenge from Paul Nehlen in Wisconsin’s primary on Tuesday – brushed off the diss, insisting that, “neither Speaker Ryan nor anyone on his team has ever asked for Donald Trump’s endorsement”. Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos offered a blunt message ahead of the presidential nominee’s arrival.
At events in Iowa and Wisconsin on Friday, Trump seemed more disciplined and focused than usual, Politico reported.
Ryan said he “rejects” any religious test for entering the country – a clear jab at one of Trump’s evolving immigration proposals – and that “Captain Khan was one such fearless example” of Muslim-Americans who have “served valiantly in our military and made the ultimate sacrifice”. At the time, she told CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union” that Ryan’s “political career is over but for a miracle because he has so disrespected the will of the people”. Trump also said this week he was not ready to endorse Ryan. The real question for voters: “What will it take for Wisconsin Republicans like Scott Walker, Ron Johnson, and Sean Duffy to denounce Donald Trump and withdraw their support once and for all?”
Trump’s endorsement came as one of several steps to get his campaign back on track after days of controversy and falling poll numbers that have given Democrat Hillary Clinton the advantage in the race to the November 8 election.
Eager to change their minds, Trump unleashed a torrent of insults at Clinton throughout the day.
“If Hillary Clinton becomes president”, he said at a rally in Iowa, “you will have really, in my opinion, the destruction of this country from within”.
Trump also thumbed his nose at Ayotte, citing her lack of direct support. The former secretary of state sought to “clarify and explain” a recent statement on “Fox News Sunday” that FBI Director James Comey said her answers to the bureau about her use of a private email server were “truthful”.
Acknowledging that he didn’t quite “eke it out” in the state’s primary, Trump said he “learned a lot” when he last visited Wisconsin.
“I’m suggesting we have a discussion about it”. She added, “I’m going to work my heart out in this campaign and as president to produce results for people”.
First, on Friday morning, there was Trump’s admission that he mistook video of the release of US hostages held by Iran in Geneva as video of a transfer of $400 million from the United States to Iran.
Trump tweeted Friday that “The plane I saw on television was the hostage plane in Geneva, Switzerland, not the plane carrying $400 million in cash going to Iran!”
Trump has been expressing outrage about a $400 million payment the US made to Iran this year.
Lately, Trump’s campaign speeches have been more stream of consciousness centered rather than offering specifics about their platform.

At a townhall in Raleigh, North Carolina, Matthew Schricker an 11-year-old-boy asked Pence whether or not his job in the White House was going to be “softening up on” Donald Trump’s words. The Republican Party of Brown County has previously said the Trump campaign expects 5,000 people to attend the rally at the KI Convention Center.
