Donald Trump endorses Paul Ryan after initially declining to do so
Donald Trump endorsed House Speaker Paul Ryan late Friday, ending a four-day standoff between the GOP’s most powerful men that exposed deepening concerns about the NY billionaire’s presidential candidacy.

Reeling from missteps that have alarmed many fellow Republicans, Donald Trump endorsed House Speaker Paul D. Ryan for re-election on Friday in a grudging move to unite the badly fractured party.
“And we may disagree on a couple of things, but mostly we agree, and we’re gonna get it done”.
Trump has praised Putin as a great leader, and taken policy positions “consistent with Russian, not American, interests”, including endorsing Russian espionage against USA figures like Clinton, Morell said.
By attempting to mend fences with the GOP establishment, Trump made another attempt to pivot after a week dominated by internal struggles and Trump’s battle with the Muslim Khan family, whose son was killed in Iraq while serving in the US Army.
Ryan “appreciates the gesture and is going to continue to focus on earning the endorsement of the voters in southern Wisconsin”, the spokesperson said.
Mr Trump earlier this week refused to endorse Mr Ryan when he told The Washington Post he was “not quite there yet” – using the same phrase Mr Ryan had used about Mr Trump before finally endorsing him. He also praised Ryan’s opponent, Paul Nehlen, for running “a very good campaign”.
Trump also endorsed Arizona Sen.
“He’s a good man, and he’s a good guy”, Trump said. Trump added that he holds McCain “in the highest esteem”, despite never offering a straight apology for questioning McCain’s status as a war hero last summer.
More critically, key swing states – such as Pennsylvania, Florida, Michigan and New Hampshire – where Trump has counted the core of his support – are all now in Clinton’s pocket.
Ryan’s team appeared unaware Friday afternoon about the imminent endorsement as early news reports that Trump was considering doing so began circulating.
Mr Trump called Mrs Clinton “totally unhinged” and “unbalanced” and said she lacks the integrity to serve in the White House. “But I will do this”, Ryan said.
She also acknowledged that many people do not trust her.
“In the intelligence business, we would say that Mr. Putin had recruited Mr. Trump as an unwitting agent of the Russian Federation”, wrote Morell.
At the same time, he adds, “we shouldn’t underestimate the impact that television ads can have, and a lot of money is going to go into that”.

At Friday’s rally, Trump once again championed himself he as an “outsider” candidate who will fight to “change a rigged political system”.
