Donald Trump far behind in preparing for general election
Donald Trump has soared to an all time high among Republicans, scoring 56-percent support in a national poll released Tuesday.

While campaigning in IN yesterday, Republican Presidential candidate Ted Cruz was confronted by a Donald Trump supporter. What do you like about Donald Trump? Early voting totals through Sunday already were almost 50 percent more than the state’s record for early voting set in the 2008 primary – which featured the tight race between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination. Indiana, with 83 Democratic delegates at stake, can’t put her over the top or rule Sanders out.
The internet went bonkers after watching what appears to be Carly Fiorina falling off a stage after introing Cruz and his family at a rally in Lafayette, Indiana. Trump has been traveling the state telling supports that this is it, his campaign’s chance to deliver a knockout blow to Cruz.
Governor Kasich stepped aside from campaigning in IN in a loose agreement with Cruz.
Two top leaders of the Indiana Senate face Republican primary challengers attacking them over legislative moves in recent years after breezing through previous election cycles.
Cruz responded to the claims Tuesday, calling his father his “hero”, and labeling Trump as “amoral”.
“The bottom line is Donald Trump is going to be the nominee and after tonight when the people of IN vote and they will vote for Donald Trump, he is not only the presumptive nominee, but he is going to be the Republican nominee going forward”, he said. “Now, if she was a man I could say it, but as a women, ladies, I’m sorry, I’m not allowed to say it”, he joked.
But Cruz, touting the endorsement of Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, was holding rallies around the state and vowing to continue his campaign – even if he loses Tuesday. Trump has said the Republican Party’s nominating contest “would be over” if he wins Indiana. “This is a fight for the soul of our party and the future of our nation”, she told cheering supporters in Indianapolis.
“Okay, the wall”, said Cruz before launching into an explanation – citing the New York Times – about how Trump won’t fulfill his immigration promises.
Kasich, who is resting his presidential hopes on a contested GOP convention, ceded his IN campaign efforts to Cruz as part of a joint effort to block Trump’s path to the 1,237 delegates needed for the nomination.
He did hedge slightly, saying “we’ll have to see” exactly what happens, but “we are having such popularity here”.
“After they made the alliance, their numbers tanked”, Trump said Monday.
According to RealClearPolitics’ polling average data, the billionaire businessman leads Cruz 43 to 32 percent in Indiana.
