Donald Trump finally backs U.S. house speaker Paul Ryan

Mr. Ryan, who has been endorsed by Mr. Trump’s vice-presidential running mate, Mike Pence, is viewed by establishment Republicans as a possible presidential candidate in the future. It was a remarkable breach of protocol for the party’s White House nominee to withhold support from its most powerful member of Congress. Like he did with Ryan, Trump declined to back either senator earlier this week.

In contrast, 80 percent said they had a positive opinion of the speaker of the House, while just 14 percent disliked Ryan.

“He’s a good man and good guy”, he added.

He adds that, “This campaign is not about me or any one candidate”, and says: “We will have disagreements”.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that Ryan appreciates the gesture and is now going to continue to focus on earning the endorsement of the voters in southern Wisconsin. “I also fully support and endorse Senator Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire”, Mr Trump said. “John McCain. I fully support and endorse his reelection”. Trump charged on Thursday in vivid detail that the Iranian government released a video of the cash exchange to embarrass America. “He was a war hero because he was captured”. “Honestly the endorsement, personally the ones that I care about are the ones from the people here in Wisconsin, my first congressional district employers”. John McCain and Kelly Ayotte – after initially declining to do so and in the case of McCain, assailing him repeatedly. In the same interview, Trump said he was not supporting McCain of Arizona and Ayotte of New Hampshire. The Friday announcement at the KI Center in downtown Green Bay elicited, according to those in attendance, cheers and boos.

Unity was on the mind of the Republican party on Friday as Donald Trump tried to mend fences with a few critics within his own party. “But I will do this because I feel I have to in order to defend Republicans and our principles so that people don’t make the mistake of thinking we think like that”.

As Donald Trump is still seeking support from Republicans nationwide, one group of Republicans refuses to support him.

“Welcome to Wisconsin, Mr. Trump, but let’s get something straight”, Wisconsin’s Assembly Speaker Robin Vos wrote in an open letter to his GOP colleagues ahead of Trump’s arrival. But given that endorsement eventually arrived, Trump’s lack of reciprocation was seen as a political faux pas – or perhaps a signal to Ryan that his continued criticism of Trump’s controversial comments wasn’t appreciated.

Ryan himself said he hasn’t spoken to Trump since the GOP convention, has no plans to, and has no idea whether their differences are going to persevere through the campaign.

Ryan is expected to easily win his primary race, but a large faction of the conservative media world has given his challenger favorable coverage and heavily covered the race.
