A day after the New York Post’s revelations, Abedin announced that she was finally ready to leave her husband.
Weiner’s wife, Huma Abedin, is Hillary Clinton’s closest advisor.
Loyalty to Abedin, however, did not stop Clinton friends from speculating about why she chose to stay with Weiner or why she married him in the first place.
But with the couple’s six-year marriage was punctuated every few years by a sex scandal involving Weiner, some in Abedin’s inner circle insist this separation was actually a long time coming, reports The Post’s Anne Gearan.
She adds: “Anthony and I remain devoted to doing what is best for our son, who is the light of our life”.
But one person’s public relations nightmare is another’s public relations opportunity, and today’s revelations just so happened to coincide with an announcement from Showtime trumpeting its exclusive TV premiere of the documentary Weiner in October.
“People should focus on the economy, healthcare and jobs this sexting scandal is just a distraction from bigger issues”, said another person.
Abedin’s marriage has also come under fire from Clinton’s Republican opponent Donald Trump, who immediately seized on the aide’s marital split to accuse Clinton of “bad judgment”.
And Anthony Weiner is being dumped by his last employment source just after his wife, Abedin, announced that she has separated from her cheating husband.
“Huma is making a very wise decision”, he said in a statement. She may not know what’s best for herself but she apparently knows what’s best for Hillary Clinton.
But scandals have dogged Weiner and dragged his wife, an aide to democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, into the public spotlight for more than five years.
Mr Weiner could not be immediately reached for comment.
The clearest sign of this: Abedin had recently not been wearing a wedding ring, a fact that did not go unnoticed by people inside and around the Clinton campaign.
‘Who knows what he learned and who he told? “I don’t think I could do it if I didn’t have the support system I have, if Anthony wasn’t willing to be, essentially, a full-time dad”, she told the magazine. Asked by The Times this month whether he was still engaging in the activities that had foiled his political career, Mr Weiner replied, “I’m not going to go down the path of talking about any of that”.
The tabloid also ran sexually suggestive text messages that it said the two exchanged.
Ms Abedin said she was “furious and sickened” by the picture, which she claims not have known about until this weekend.
Moments later he reportedly anxious he had posted the image on his public timeline and not as a private, direct message – like in 2011 when his Twitter followers saw he had uploaded a picture of himself, posing in grey underwear.

“By the way, Roger, I still can’t figure out how she got the security clearance”, Bannon said.
