Bernie Sanders, who has vowed to fight on through next week’s Washington, D.C., primary, but on Thursday didn’t repeat his previous claims that he will fight on through the party’s convention next month in Philadelphia.

Sanders said, however, that he would stay in the race to compete in the final Democratic primary vote in Washington, DC, on June 14.

Sanders is a response to an uncomfortable rightward Democrat drift crystallized for many in the form of Hillary Clinton.

Warren, who has been positioning herself as one of Donald Trump’s toughest adversaries, had been the only holdout among the Senate’s Democratic women. “Because our leaders are weak, I said this was going to happen – and it is only going to get worse”.

Following Barack Obama’s short speech in which the president called the Orlando attack an “act of terror and an act of hate” and said it was “a further reminder of how easy it is for someone to get their hands on a weapon that lets them shoot people”, Mr Trump doubled-down on the rhetoric that has fuelled his rise to the Republican nomination.

“I know how hard this job can be”.

“I join Americans in praying for the victims of the attack in Orlando”, Clinton said in another tweet.

Clinton’s presidential campaign later announced it was postponing its first joint event with Obama on Wednesday in Green Bay, Wisconsin, because of the Orlando shooting.

Trump tweeted: “Obama just endorsed Crooked Hillary”. He wants four more years of Obama – but nobody else does, ‘ The Donald wrote.

The Clinton victories gave her an unbeatable majority of pledged delegates and made her the first woman to become the nominee of a major political party in the 240-year history of the United States. He complimented Bernie Sanders for running “an incredible campaign”, one that brought young people into the “progressive” camp on the issues of income inequality and money in politics.

Like Obama, Clinton prefers to avoid early missteps even if that leaves her looking overly cautious.

Clinton also thanked Obama for the endorsement in an interview with Bloomberg Politics, timed to be made public when the White House released Obama’s endorsement video. Sanders came prepared with his statement.

Obama greeted Sanders and his wife, Jane, in the residence and then strolled with the senator, smiling and laughing warmly, past the Rose Garden to the Oval Office, as cameras recorded the moment.

Warren wanted to speak to Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. Sanders stopped by the Naval Observatory later in the afternoon to meet with Biden.

Sanders had previously insisted he would continue his campaign through the convention, but he and his aides have been more muted about his plans in recent days.
