Dumping Trump at next month’s Republican national convention? But with party leaders already flashing mixed messages about the billionaire’s candidacy – House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., belatedly endorsed him but labeled his comments “racist” – any more rhetorical bombs that Trump tosses could cause opposition to him to snowball. He donated repeatedly to Hillary Clinton for her Senate run and first presidential campaign – and also holds business ties to some of Clinton’s mega donors. “And I will never ever let you down”.

Her total is comprised of pledged delegates won in primaries and caucuses, as well as superdelegates – the party officials and officeholders who can back a candidate of their choosing.

Trump’s remarks Tuesday night came hours after he released a statement aiming to put his controversial comments about the judge to rest, in which he claimed he had been “misconstrued” and vowed not to comment on the issue again. The nomination does not belong to Trump, no matter how many times he and others in the media say it does.

“There are so many ad hoc groups of women who back Trump, and what we want to do is harness their energy and give them a home”, Serkes said. Trump said last week that a federal judge might not be capable of imparting a fair judgment because he is of Mexican descent.

With Johnson dropped from consideration, Clinton’s lead remains three percentage points – 42% to Trump’s 39% – the poll found.

Trump’s harshest attacks against Clinton were on foreign policy, blaming her for empowering Iran and making the Middle East more unsafe.

The Trump finance machine kick-off took place at New York City’s Four Seasons Hotel amid growing concerns about the Republican presidential candidate’s lack of a campaign infrastructure heading into a November 8 election battle against presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

One senior Republican donor, who has been a leading fundraiser for the party for decades, said there is a palpable reluctance among some traditionally “rock-solid” GOP donors to associate themselves with Trump. If no candidate wins the nomination by then, most delegates are free to vote for anyone in the second and succeeding rounds of voting.
