Donald Trump interviews ‘himself’ on ‘The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon’

In a sketch that supplemented the sitdown interview, he and Fallon wore matching dark suits – and sculpted coifs – for a take on the old “talking to myself in the dressing room mirror” routine. On the latest episode of the “Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon, the host decided to dress up as Donald Trump.

“Talk to you in 3 hours”. The skit was notable not only for the laugh lines but for the fact that Trump was able to laugh at himself.

“No”, the brash businessman said.

“Right. But how?” wondered Fallon Trump. I recently said… I want to lower taxes for the middle class. How else do you plan to help the economy”, Fallon asked. “The only one qualified to interview me…is me“. “I’ll call you back after I comb my hair”. At several points he turns to the audience, beaming, especially when Fallon says, “I’m like a Greek god that just took a bath in a Pumpkin Spice Latte”.

“Vice president’s a serious job”, Trump noted.

Kanye has been so nice to me. He’s fantastic”, Trump said. “Later, when the two discuss Trump’s potential running mate, Trump jokes, “[Gary Busey] is more of a Supreme Court Justice, in my opinion. Trump’s staple answer was that he was just going to do it. Sure, these lines were for a sketch, but you know that The Donald will have no problem saying these in real life.

Ever since Donald Trump officially announced his candidacy for President on June 16 of this year, the media has had a field day with his statements as well as his image. Fallon dressed as Trump asked the real Trump what he was doing on the campaign trail that his fellow Republican contenders are not.

“No, no, I don’t do that”. I mean, Fallon being the softie he is, it’s not like we expected him to grill Trump on any controversial issues.

Trump also clarified, sort of, a long-standing question about his personality.

But some people thought the appearance didn’t really turn out to be that… uuuuge.

Otherwise it was a mostly playful back-and-forth. “I’ve never seen anything like it….” “Honestly, it’s tough stuff”.

“Me interviewing me – that’s a great idea”, Trump says to Fallon. Adding, “But you have to be WRONG….”

Fallon asked the billionaire developer if he has ever apologized for anything, and Trump was quite clear: he’ll apologize, if someone can prove he’s wrong, according to an Associated Press report.

This week, the candidate has gotten himself in hot water for comments to Rolling Stone magazine about Carly Fiorina’s face. Did I ask about stadiums? “She had a very very rough past, corporately”.
