That is according to a poll taken before Saturday night’s (Feb. 7) ABC GOP debate, billed as a pre-Super Bowl match-up in which Trump did participate.
Elsewhere on the Republican side, there’s a four-way battle among governors Chris Christie and John Kasich, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Sen.
Bush, though, said that he does not quite agree with one of the main complaints about Rubio’s campaign being scripted, an argument stemming from rival Chris Christie’s comments about his being a carefully-handled “boy in the bubble”. “Barack Obama has been an incredibly divisive president precisely because of this”, he said.
If Rubio were able to beat the field for the Republican nomination, he’s likely to face Hillary Clinton in the general election, not the two-term president. “I can’t say the same thing, I can’t say it. My mind works differently”, Bush said.
Memorization is great on the lecture circuit but for a candidate under the microscope of the electorate, Rubio appears to be slightly more intelligent than Siri in his ability to think for himself.
What’s different from Iowa, of course, is that virtually no one is doubting Donald Trump will win in New Hampshire.
Rubio has opted to run more to the center of Cruz and Rubio on several contentious issues such as immigration. The Cruz campaign is already looking ahead to SC and other southern states with heavy numbers of religious voters.
Surrounded by volunteers, his wife, four children, father, and staff from his official office who had taken vacation days to come north, Christie spoke off the cuff, pointing out people by name to thank them and encourage them to keep getting out the vote.
For Barbara O’Brien, an undecided voter who had been considering voting for Rubio, it was enough to convince her he wasn’t the right choice.
