Wednesday night Mike Pence got his time in the spotlight at the Republican National Convention.
And not every conservative at Tuesday’s gathering was sold by Pence. During his time in Congress, before becoming governor in 2012, he repeatedly called for taking away federal funding for Planned Parenthood. And it means that campaign chief Paul Manafort had been wrong the day before when he said there was no copying, and blamed the media, the Clintons, and anybody else he could think of for claiming there was.
As governor, Pence angered women’s groups for signing into law restrictions on abortions.
“I am confident I am the strongest candidate to beat John Gregg in the fall, and I will continue my efforts to demonstrate that to the committee”, Brooks said.
“The priorities of the Trump presidency will be the priorities of the president, and I will serve in a capacity, if I have the privilege, that the president defines”, Pence said. “Donald Trump apparently doesn’t even believe in the free world”, Mr Sullivan said alleging that over the course of this campaign, Mr Trump has displayed a freaky and occasionally obsequious fascination with Russia’s strongman, Vladimir Putin.
Pence said in a statement Friday that he believes Lt. Gov. Eric Holcomb is “one of the best prepared individuals in recent memory” to be governor.
Mike Pence is framing the November presidential race as crucial to defining the makeup of the Supreme Court for the next 40 years.
Trump “loves educational choice”, he said, signaling a potential push to encourage vouchers that give families a choice beyond their neighborhood public school, though this is the purview of state and local government.
Pence used the speech to tell his life story by paying tribute to his mother in the audience and telling the crowd his dad would be surprised at the nomination if he were still alive.
Trump chose the IN governor as his running mate last week, despite some differences between the two men on foreign policy.
Picking up on the dissatisfaction with the political establishment that’s fueled support for Trump, Pence said voters are “tired of being told by politicians from both parties, we’ll get to that tomorrow”, as the national debt grows.
As for Hillary Clinton… she may turn the swing state of Virginia blue. Governor Mike Pence appeared with Donald Trump and Texas Senator Ted Cruz, who made jokes when Trump’s helicopter interrupted his speech.
Maybe Trump just doesn’t know what he’s doing.
